KFIT International School Project


In line with the Capacity Building Workshops on PBL-Telecollaboration, the pilot run of the KFIT International School Project (KISP) was initiated to provide teachers and students an opportunity to expand their boundaries and collaborate with other groups internationally in developing inter-cultural projects. The project aims at building an online learning community for teachers and students to promote ICT-supported project-based collaborative learning.Participants of the project include teachers, students and coordinators from Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) from four different countries namely: Canada, China, Republic of Korea, and the Philippines.

Objectives of the KISP

  • To expand the community of teachers who were trained and to put the training into practice
  • To document processes, experiences, and feedback as inputs to the Regional Guide on PBL and telecollaboration thatwill be published in 2012
  • To measure the effectiveness of PBL
  • To further strengthen the partnerships between teacher educators and teachers

B. Canada (For the participating classes):
  • To increase awareness of different cultures
  • To integrate ICT for collaborative learning in and across classrooms
  • To be exposed to different social cultural environments (e.g. in QEP curriculum – Social Studies)
  • To learn about different views on geographic and climate differences

C. China (For the participating classes):
  • To provide actual opportunities for authentic English practice
  • To learn about other countries’ experiences on various global issues (e.g. Science: climate changes/environmentaleducation)
  • To improve and contribute to the international understanding of different cultures
